LIFE CHANGE

So, what has been occurring in the life of Abi Horsey? Not much, but here are a few snaps of my summer and beginning of the Autumn. As you'll see I went to Majorca with one of my besties, Laura (aka Tri) and I had the most amazing time! The weather was fantastic and we had such a brilliant time relaxing on the hot sand, swimming in the crystal clear blue sea and paddling the pool. Yes, admittedly sunbathing was a priority of ours, but we also got to explore a load of Majorca and all its lovely little villages.

WARNING: many many many photos ahead.

Wow, it's really been almost three months since I last did a blog post. I'm ashamed of myself! Although the truth is I haven't really been inspired much recently, or had the will to write anything on here. I went through a long phase of not having the best time and feeling pretty alone and low, what with all my school work, driving pressures and friends as well. I still do feel like this but instead of brewing in my own pool of self pity, I would rather just be strong and try and change these depressing thoughts of mine to more positive ones. I've learnt recently who my real friends are, which is the most important and vital thing to know, and see that I have such a supportive family, and that this threat and danger of driving is just a phase and I need to see it's just so exciting! It felt like yesterday I was just learning to ride a bike (even though I still can't ride one now!), and now I'm learning to drive. Weird eh? I think its that time of year when you reminisce and think of your life - considering the weather has massively altered to rain, cold and storms, you can't exactly be extremely positive, obviously unless you are snuggled up in bed with a hot chocolate, then that's a completely different story. I hate this sudden transition from sun to storm and these mid autumn season blues.

So time for a change, in appearance, mind and actions. That ultimately means MORE BLOG POSTS from Velvet Passion - it's about time. Writing this post reminds me of how much I missed this, however I am stuck for ideas so I will need to screw my thinking cap on.

JUNGLE

So, after months of doing literally non-stop revising, I am free! I finally went shopping and managed to get nearly everything I wanted (that'll be a seperate post). This is just a post to show my outfit - oh my the sun was out and it was HOT outside for a change, so I took advantage of that and wore a little bodycon dress I bought recently from Topshop.

I saw this dress so randomly and instantly loved it, it looks like a Jungle! It's really bright and the colours are really beautiful. I wanted to grunge it up by wearing black chunky boots and a black studded bag! Look at all the detail on the sides and sleeves, and the backless effect -  its so pretty!

Last night I also went out with my family including my brother's girlfriend as we hadn't all had a catch up in a while. It was so nice seeing them and we were actually able to celebrate my dad's and brother's birthday, as well as my parent's anniversary, as we hadn't had chance before all together. We went for a meal at the place I work and it was so weird to sit down and eat there - I took massive advantage of the food there (as I always want to eat everything when I'm working) and had a three course meal. I think it's safe to say we were all completely stuffed by the end.

STEP INTO SUMMER

It is officially Summer according to the calender and the weather is actually starting to perk up. The sun is bursting through the cloggy clouds and making a sunny statement. The temperature is rising to a mediocre degree, and hopefully it will just keep increasing. My one pet hate is having to throw over a jacket on top of my outfit as it completely ruins it; I am mostly looking forward to walking out the house 'coat free' and not having it drown my clothes.

Like everybody else is I am sure, all I can think about is this year's Summer Fashion collection! I keep searching the internet for inspiration and leaping into magazines! Out of everything, I find that actually fashion blogs are the most useful as I love seeing what outfits people put together and how they make them unique; plus they are usually affordable.

My fashion sense is sometimes quite grungy and gothic, so this Summer I really want to embrace that look! One of my favourite celebrities are the Olsen Twins, as their dirty blonde beach locks and sunkissed skin looks perfect with black grunge clothes. They can really pull of the black look, without looking too gothic, and match their outfits with beautiful bags and sunnies.

Another style icon of mine is Miley Cyrus. I don't normally like her as an actress (apart from in the Last Song) but I really love her fashion sense as it reminds me of American Apparel: simple but beautiful. She often teams a checkered shirt with a plain dress, or wears levi shorts with crop tops. I think her choice of clothing is always perfect for the summer and it really inspires me! One thing that does upset me about Cyrus, is that all her golden perf hair has been chopped off into, what I think, is really unflattering on her. Ohh well, her amazing style will make up for it.

Boy, I am in into sports wear this year. I am never brave enough to wear anything sporty I have bought into sixform, as I am worried people will mistake me for going to the gym. However, although I may not wear these things, I still love them, especially the over sized american football tops and number crop tops. There are loads in Topshop at the moment which is fantastic, so I may have to indulge in some more, but they really aren't very flattering or womanly!

Footwear is something I want to indulge more in this year! Although I love wearing chunky buckled biker boots, they do make my legs look stumpy! If you hadn't guessed I am quite small, so this Summer I want a shoe that will increase my height and lengthen my legs. Wedges are perfect for all occasions as you can wear them both casually and formally, depending on the type and appearance of the shoe. Here are a few I have been inspired by by celebrities on the web:

Rihanna
Keri Hilson, Miley Cyrus, Alexa Chung, Olsen twin
Victoria Beckham heel(less) shoes
The Backless wedges, originally worn by Victoria Beckham, is so popular at the moment, that's if you can walk in them! I have tried so many on and literally just fall back in them, thank goodness there is always someone behind to catch me! I really don't know how people can walk, I salut them.

There are some gorgeous ones similar to the style of Victoria Beckham's legendary wedges on New Look:
How amazing are they?! Not only do they have gorgeous studding all over, the heel actually looks relatively easy to walk in as it is curved.

I noticed that Keri Hilson was wearing a pair of striped wedges that looked so striking. I tried some on in New Look that had an Aztec pattern on the heel, they were incredible. When Summer hits England hard, I will dive straight into their website and buy me some of these:
Black Aztec Espadrille Wedges

I WISH I WAS A PUNK ROCKER WITH FLOWERS IN MY HAIR

Arghh, it's August and yesterday I had to layer up in a thick leather jacket, tights and boots! I should be wearing skirts, shorts and crop tops, not winter jackets! I really do hate the English Weather :( We were promised a scorching hot, bbq weather summer, but instead we have had months of winter weather (I wouldn't be surprised if it started snowing!)

So I wore this outfit for a day to town and for once I didn't really buy much - all I bought was a glitzy phone cover which doesn't fit my phone and is scraping off the white layer, and a ear cuff earring thing which I have shown above.

NEWQUAY HOLIDAY WITH THE GALS

Me, Lucie, Paige, Robyn, Paula, Bonnie, Laura, Helena and Kate
As many of you would have read in my previous posts, I had a holiday in Newquay with all my best friends. We went for a week, and that was PLENTY of time; any more and we probably would have killed eachother haha. It was basically endless nights of going out late into Newquay and buying our way into clubs.. the usual for the Newquay holiday. Thankfully nobody got hurt or ridiculously drunk as otherwise it could have put a downer on our time away. All of us gained nicknames, some are more embarrassing than others.

Anyway I had the most amazing time ever and it is a holiday that I will always remember: I have plenty of memories to last me a life time! I hope all the other GCSE lot who went to Newquay had a great time too like we all did (Hope nothing horrendous happened!) It was so wierd how basically every person I spoke to was from Bristol/Bath! - perhaps I will bump into them, but I doubt I will remember any of them.
